about
In recognition of the importance of keeping good jobs and manufacturing here in the USA, and in homage to the 100th anniversary of the birth of America's greatest folksinger, Woody Guthrie, Ben Sage is offering his original song, "American Maid," which, thematically at least, could be considered a living, modern-day descendent of Woody's "Union Maid."
As Ben notes, "You don't have to be in a union anymore for your job to be shipped overseas. It's time to stand up and realize we need to re-invest in the infrastructure of America and the ingenuity and ability of its working people. "
And this track is priced so that any working (or even temporarily non-working) man or woman can afford to enjoy it.

I remember an American Maid
And she was so sweet
I remember an American Maid
And she was so sweet
She had busy, happy hands
And she felt so free
She had busy, happy hands
And she felt so free
[CHORUS]:
Where you have gone, my American Maid?
Will you return to me?
Or are gone, now and forever
Bound so far across the sea?
I remember an American Maid
She stood so proud
With a quality that soared
Far above crowd
She lived in the dreams of those
Who forged a frontier
And a way of life we thought
Could never disappear
[CHORUS]
[INSTRUMENTAL]
I hear that American Maid
Calling to us still
Saying, “I’ll return to you,
If you have the will”
[CHORUS]
[ALTERNATE VERSES]:
She lived in the dreams of those
Who rose above their station
To secure the blessings of liberty
And a public education
The work she did was second to none
She had such pride (On every task)
Now they say it can’t be done (Now they say her day is done)
But I think they lied (For what she asked)
